One Terrible Winter Rift Runner Setting

Death is their dealings, guilt their reward. 

Those people of the plains grew too large. Without enough food the terrible hunger pains soon wracked their bodies. There was only one way to keep the pain at bay.

They consumed themselves. In a night the blood, bones and all of half the population was consumed. The young went first. So long as the parents survived, they could always make more. 

For one night the flat lands experienced the unending howl of sorrow.

In the town there is just enough to feed every resident. 

Can you survive the harshest winter yet, or will you to succumb to the hunger of the beasts? Perhaps will you struggle, sacrificing self, to create the desired ending.
